Murti Dooars Tourist Spots and Sightseeing Attractions

Murti is famous for its serene ambiance and pictorial views. Even during the late 20th century, the area was heavily forested and infested with wildlife and dacoits due to which only a few people would dare to cross the forest after dark. And the road from Murti crossing over Chapramari forests reaches National Highway at a junction that is still called “Khunia” crossing. As the year passed wildlife grew in this region whereas the dacoits slowly started to fade away.

Today Murti is one of the most peaceful and arguably one of the best places to soak into the natural exuberance. The beauty of Murti lies in the knee-deep crystal clear water of the river Murti, dense forest, and wild animals. The popular Gorumara National Park is a few kilometers away from Murti. Due to its rich collection of flora and fauna, Gorumara is quite a popular national park among nature lovers. A lesser-known offbeat hill station of Dooars named Bindu can also be explored from Murti. It is the last hamlet of West Bengal nestled adjacent to the Indo-Bhutan Border. India’s second oldest dam and its immense natural beauty are the major attractions visitors will get to see while exploring Bindu.

The closeness of Murti to Gorumara National Park has made this destination a birding paradise since this Wildlife Sanctuary hosts a vast collection of avifauna. During the months of winter, migratory water fouls like Brahminy and Teals can be spotted near the riverbank of Murti making Murti a birding utopia for avid bird watchers. Apart from camping and angling, the riverbank of Murti proves to be an ideal picnic spot where you can have a memorable picnic with your friends and family.

From scenic picnic spots, plethora of unique colorful birds to see to jungle safari in the dense forest, the beauty of the quaint river valley Murti never ceases to mesmerize its visitors. The water of river Murti is not glacier-fed being rainwater the primary source of the river, however, the beauty of the river Murti stays unhindered even during the dry season when the river can be crossed on foot.
